p.5 #1 · Why Would Someone Not Use A Strap?

I have a BR strap and also a hand strap. Tend to use the hand strap in studio and the BR when in the field. My hand strap is always on and I feel very comfortable with it.

I just don't trust myself. I never pick up the camera without hanging it around my neck. Once I formed that habit, I dare not stop..............

It would be a hassle to remove and reattach the strap.Wy not let the strap hang loose and not wrapped around your neck. I have no problem shooting using a monopod...Show more →

Someone might not use a strap if they forgot it. I was out in Rome one day and when I pulled out my 5D2 I realized that I left my BlackRapid strap back at the hotel. The rest of the day was spent hoping I wouldn't drop my 5D2 or have it stolen.

I stopped using straps because of neck pain.

I didn't realize how much they'd gotten in the way until I removed them. Never going back; my last few cameras' straps never even got unpacked.
