I read in the newspapers a few days ago, the Indian Supreme Court issued some sort of ban on tourism in order to 'save the tiger'. My understanding is the poachers are the real threat to Tigers, the tourists' spending help to maintain the national parks and the rangers working in them to protect the wildlife.
Your observation is right on. They have the same problem with the Amur Tigers in Siberia. Hardly any toursits go there and yet the Tiger numbers are VERY low and still dropping due to poaching. Some tourists may be pesky at times but they don't kill what they pay good money to come and see.

A nice set Michael ~ Ron
Thanks Ron. The Indian Supreme Court has injected itself into Tiger conservation by banning tourism in the 'core' areas of tiger reserves around the country. If this ban is not lifted soon, photographing Tigers in India will be a VERY tough thing to do from now on.

Wow Michael, looks like you had lots of time with the Tiger(s). I know that is an extremely rare treat. Fabulous job on him. I'm loving the Stork with the branch, killer pose!!

Thanks Tim. The Indian Supreme Court has thrown a monkey wrench into my plans for another Tiger Safari next year by passing a ban on Tiger tourism in core areas of the National Parks.

great pictures. What safari did you use?
Thanks. We went with an outfit from England but this year I am hiring my own local guide and we'll have the jeep all to ourselves. More room to spread the gear around.

Lucky you Michael to see and photograph these wonderful animals and birds.
The flying monkey is my favorite.

Thanks Martin. I had to cancel my Tiger safari trip to India in April because of a back injury suffered in March on a photo shoot in Maui. Missed my tigers already but I am scheduled to return to India next year.
