It was a young grizzly. But I would not have called it a charge but a 'run-by'. I suspect that the "running by" was reported as aggresive when it was more the opposite because people are mistaking charging for just getting out the way. And getting out of the way is what we want the bears to do. I hope they don't put him down for the wrong reasons.
Glad you like the loon shots. It was at Herbert Lake and they are easy to find.
Excellent job Scott. Twice did happen to me simular encounter in Katmai and one was only arm length in the bush. One juvenile was chasing the other, the first one had a sockeye in the mouth while the other one right behind as they suprised me I was shaken for the rest of the day.
darbo: Glad you like the loons, landscape, and bear story. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.Scott
santila: I know how you feel - you confidence takes a hit when you have an encounter. Glad you like the loons. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Conrad Tan: I don't think there was every much danger, just thought there was. Glad you like the loon pictures. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated Scott
Beautiful landscape shot Scott and nice loon images too.
The downside with living in the UK is that there are no bears, the upside is that there is very little chance of having anything attack when taking wildlife photo's here!
Waldr_P: Sorry for being tardy. I was out wandering around in the bush with my bear spray looking for landscapes. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Harshaj1: I never really got to fright - it happened too fast - it was more like a near car accident - so fast its over before the heart beat goes up. Glad you like the non dangerous loons. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
