Wife ordered the 500mm II from B&H on Sunday May 27th and got the e mail today at 10:06am that it has been filled and shipped! YEA!! FYI... There is one on Amazon in stock NOW GONE..
Now just have to wait for my 600mm II order to be filled. Happy fourth indeed.....

*Update*....Got a email this morning at 6:45am that B&H has filled my order for the 600mm II. I preordered May 25th in the morning. Just when I was thinking, what about me?

I ordered my 600II in February and have yet to see it. I didn't order from BH as I do for most L lenses as I save around $2000 buying in Canada for the super telephotos. Oh well, $2000 is worth the wait.

The MSRP difference between US and Canada is tempting and a bit strange given that the currencies are trading almost 1 to 1 and the trend that things have usually been cheaper in the South. My guess is it is not going to last that way.
Has anyone actually received a lens at those prices in Canada yet?

Peter (PetKal) has got the 500II at those prices. Well actually lower as he and I are CPS gold so we get another discount even on the price listed at Camera Canada. Also the CR guy has got both at Canadian prices (I'm sure at CPS also)
My price for the 600II when it shows up with CPS pricing is going to be $10,700.

It's interesting Canon has no discount or priority for CPS members in the US.

Yes, but the requirement to be a CPS Gold member is more rigorous north of the border. I remembered Geoff (arbitrage) was waiting for months to get his approved....

Well the requirements weren't all that rigorous at all. You just had to own a bunch of gear. It did take forever but that was just the whole system being slow plus and IT problem that delayed it by a month. But I think the Gold requirements were to own 2 bodies 40D or better and 2 or 3 L lenses. $100 per year. Great value. I finally have my membership number but my card and welcome gift is still in the mail. I am surprised that they have a discount when no other countries seem to have one. The discount isn't even mentioned on the CPS website at all, it is like a hidden benefit that I only found out about on these forums.

Oh, OK, somehow I was under the impression that the requirement was more rigorous but it is not. The way it sounds it is approximately the same as the requirement down here. Too bad they did not adopt the same benefit in buying gear at a CPS discount over here.... .

Canon Australia only give out CPS (Gold or Silver) to actual professional photographers, no matter how much gear you own. Not sure why this a country-by-country decision rather than have one set of guidelines.

Fred, if you are going to Tanzania and/or Kenya, I am afraid you may need a longer lens than the 500mm, even on a 1.3X body and a 1.4X TC and that's based on my personal first-hand experience. I am not sure about other countries though.
