Shootout between my 45/1.8 and my friend's 75/1.8 lens. Both shots were hand-held and these are 100% crops. Unfortunately we had not planned or intended for this to be a shootout ... so I was shooting with the 45 wide open while my friend was shooting her 75 at f2.8 ... but the results are not surprising at all.

Lovely shots Canerino, I'm especially fond of the second one! Nice B&W conversions aswell, I might actually have to get the 14mm 2.5, it's about us $300 together with the Panasonic GF3 in Sweden so it should be well worth the price.

Bobby, would be nice to see how the 45mm behaved at 2.8! At 1.8 it is slightly soft although still very good but the 75mm at 2.8 is quite amazing!

I want it! Now I'm having a hard time deciding, 75mm and 14mm or 7-14mm and MAYBE 75? Urgh!

And then all those nice lenses coming Schneider 14mm and hopefully in 2014 the Pana 150 and 42,5... urgh again!

You are not alone. Most of us are having to struggle with which lenses to buy ... as there are so many good options now! I ordered the Olympus 60 macro as soon as I read Robin Wong's and Ming Thein's review of this lens. For $500 the 60 macro is amazing value.

Amazing shots everyone.
This thread is one of the reasons I got my brand new OMD yesterday.
I hope to join in on the fun soon. I can't wait to get some time to shoot.

Welcome to the club! The OM-D is so much fun to carry and shoot with ... and it takes amazing photos!

I guess not Bobby! The 60mm Macro does indeed look amazing but I had a 50mm macro for the D700 and rarely used it so.... think my money will be better spend on a 7-14 or 75 :-)

Welcome Surf Monkey, it's an amazing little camera! One that is actually with you most of the time if you want to (unlike a big DSRL and big lenses, no that they don't have a use, it's just that they aren't as nice to carry around).

It's kind of revitalized my photography aswell, I've had a couple of months while I've been shooting less but with the EM-5 I've really started again and spent more time with it, mostly doing portraits but it's very nice for all types of shots. Can't wait to get out and do some autumn shooting with great colors (probably gonna convert it to B&W anyway though :-P )

I bought the OM-D in part, as a camera to take on business trips. Well, I just came back from a trip to Europe where I brought the camera and three lenses. It was a breeze to carry around with my Macbook Air all in my small tenba bag. I have 600 images to sort through only a few of which I have posted here so far.

Very nice Bob, love the first shot, beautiful framing and colors and the bokeh is great.

Three more from my shoot the other day, think I need to do another shoot very soon so I can add some different photos from some other place :-P

Bob, your black-and-whites are pretty nice ... but I was wondering if they may look more pleasing or less stark/contrasty with a high-key or over-exposed look, so the background is a neutral gray instead of black. Just a thought. The background, especially of the 2nd picture, is a little distracting to me.

Edit: Sorry Bob ... this was supposed to be addressed to Rasmus!

Bob Israel,
any way you can go back and isolate that red bike on that brick wall and fence?

Thanks Boddy, I agree so trying a different look for these photos, uploading again, not truly high key but far less blacks and less contrasty.

The last picture is without grain added (just testing different things) but otherwise more or less similar to the others.

Thanks for the critique/suggestions! :-)

Wilbus - I find these black and whites more pleasing to me, personally.

More church shots from the Netherlands. Handheld with the 7-14 Panny. This lens was made for these kinds of shots.

rji2goleez I agree, they are much more pleasing! Thanks again for the critique/idea Bobby :-)

Amazing perspective in that church, the 7-14 must indeed have been designed for those kind of shots!

Yes, I think these "softer" b/w renditions are less harsh and therefore a little easier on the eyes. I like the last version best i.e. the one with no grain added, but again, this is a matter of personal taste.

Here's another one of my friend's shot of the Lorikeet with the 75/1.8 lens ... this time @ f1.8 ... and cropped 100%. Damn sharp even wide open.

Beautiful lighting and rendering, Julian!

Agreed again, the one without grain turned out best for these shots, will have to do some more work I guess and make sure I chose the right editing for the right photo! :-)

Wow, the 75mm looks to be an awsome lens, the 45 is no slouch but the 75mm seem to put it to shame. Now I must have it :-(

Julian, what's not to like about those photos? They are very good, the lighting is beautiful, the composition is spot on as are the colors. What exactly aren't you pleased with?

Yes maybe it was to do with the fact that this time reality was more enjoyable than the images. I do think it was the time of day and the harsh contrast. It had more than edged the DR of the camera and I found the processing hard this time round.
All nice images above Bob and Wilbus.

I can see that you may have a very difficult time capturing these images because of the bad weather and lighting ... but I think you did an extremely good job of rendering these images in post. So, well done!
