I only use the above lens on the OM-D when I have something specific which is usually doing something quite static. I'd not walk around with it on one the Canon Camera either. If there is a big enough market for a long tele primes on such a camera I doubt it but really dont know. Anything good is going to be expensive and the price rises again if the market is small. Great thing with this lens is it is an equivalent 800mm f5.6, on the FF canon which I dont wish to invest in.
I keep hoping that Oly or someone will come out with a higher quality super tele. I have tried the Pana 100-300, and still own the Oly 75-300 v2. Just not quite there for me.
I hear what you say and yes it would be nice for some of us. I look at the Panny 35-100 images which seems to have good qualities but not the reach really that is sometimes wanted. Having said that I dont mind manual focusing if needs be. I use the EF 200mm f2.8 L on a monopod for surfers which works well. Loads of missed out of focus shots, but that's ok, makes the keepers even more special. I think after a while you can get quite good at it, just needs practice.

Used 50-200 might be an option - I'm using one now (also used it with the E5 back in "the day" with a 1.4x) and it's very good, much much better than my Pany 100-300 was at long range.

If I ever find the right long lens (for me) to use on my EM-5 & EM-1, I will be in heaven
Great bird shots!
Ditto. This is the missing link in the m43 system. We know that Olympus is planning to release their 40-150/2.8 PRO lens sometime this year … and that's great. I am pretty sure this lens will have excellent IQ, just like the 12-40 PRO lens is … but it's still too short for bird photography. I wish they would accelerate their plans to release a super-telephoto zoom i.e. 150-350 or whatever, as that would rock! We know it's coming but let's hope it happens sooner rather than later.
The Canon 400/5.6L is a very good lens but it's really only good for non-moving subjects. It doesn't work for BIF. I rented a 4/3 Oly 150/2 + 1.4x TC but that is still very short and my keeper rate for BIF was extremely low … like maybe less than 5% because the C-AF tracking with a 4/3 lens is not up to par. Here's a couple of my keeper shots.
I've come very close to getting the Oly 50-200 + tele, but I'm just afraid it wouldn't satisfy. just as sure as I buy something Olympus will release what I need/want
I had the 50-200 (non-SWD version) at my disposal but I wasn't impressed by the relatively slow AF, so I rented the 150/2 + TC instead … which is better/faster but still wasn't good enough compared to the C-AF tracking of a DSLR. A native m43 lens will work, but Olympus still needs to improve on the C-AF with cross-type sensors.

Interesting shot. Is this in Venice? How do you like your 17/1.8 lens? I am thinking of selling my copy as I rarely use it, along withe the 25/1.4 and 45/1.8, as I need to fund the Nocticron that I had pre-ordered.

No it's a city in the Netherlands: "'s-Hertogenbosch"
The 17/1.8 performs better than some people think. It's sharp, even wide open.
The one problem I have with it isn't really because of the lens itself. I also own an RX1 which offers about the same FOV. The look that I get from the RX1 is much more pleasing than what I get from my OM-D + 17/1.8. That's why I only use the 17/1.8 when I need the AF speed. It sure is fast (and silent)!
Great lens for things like street photography.
