Did you set the IS focal length? I noticed this made a difference for me (some difference at least).
You may e very right about the fact that you experience the first kick aswell though and then think i feel less effective. Try actually releasing the half press and see if you notice any difference.
I have lv mode set to 2; and when I 1/2 pres shutter button the IS seems to kick in immediately (very obvious); but after a second or two it seems to disable or becomes less effective making it difficult to complete manual focus.
two questions: 1) What happens when you take the picture (does it re-enable?); is there a method to make it stay on longer during manual focus ?
You definitely need to check to make sure that the focal length is set properly for the manual lens. In the SCP, select IBIS hit the "OK" button - then hit the "Info" button and use the secondary control wheel to set the focal length. If it's set improperly (and it has no way of automatically communicating with the body) it will be ineffective and may actually work against you.
Forgot this thread should be about pictures so here goes :-)
First picture is a self portrait with the kit lens, I'm to the far left in the picture :-P
Second and third pictures are both taken with the Panasonic Leica 25mm (finally recieved it and the Oly 45mm). Both pictures are from a first short outing and testing.
Black and white conversion was made in Silver Efex Pro 2 while the baby shot is almost untouched, slight sharpening and nothing else added in raw conversion.
Hehe, good thing, atleast I don't look like a horse! :-D
Another one from the same set, edited a bit heavier and longer more exact with control pointsin Silver Efex pro.
ISO 3200 (the EM-5 amazes me at high iso's, I dare say I get better results from it then the D700, for some reason, I know the D700 is/should be better when pixel peeping but in real life pictures where it matters, the EM-5 is every bit as good).
I keep learning about the EM-5 as well, taking the pictures of my nephew I had face recognition turned on with focus on closest eye. The problem was the Owl on the Pacifier was closer and the camera recognized that (rightfully so) as a face so I had to turn the face recognition off while he has the pacifier in his mouth.
bingo; I probably didn't reset the focal length. I had set it but then had to reset the camera.

Hi everyone. Some excellent photos here.
Here's a few nature/landscape shots from the Blue Mountains, Australia. I've just started getting into photography and am enjoying this camera. High ISO and dynamic range has exceeded my expectations.
Welcome Johnny and yes they're showign up - that looks like a lovely area and you seem to be putting the EM5 to good use
A quick snap from my Rokinon 7.5mm FE. First image is from camera, second is a manual Distortion of +29 in LR and the third is Profiled using the Sigma 10mm fisheye settings. So far a really cool lens, but I need to use it more to get a grasp on it.
JuJu I'm curious, how effective is the IBIS when mounting the 400, or are you disabling it and using a gimbal, etc?
I'm close to ordering a Minolta MD to M43 adapter and will slap on my Minolta 600 5.6
I'll probably leave IBIS on mode 1 even with the gimbal - I'll be curious to test it out.
Thanks Juju and ditto! May I ask, what is the Jupiter 8, I've seen you post images several times now with it and they look great but I've never heard of it before.
The 25mm 1.4 is probably the most amazing lens I've had the pleasure of using so far, I haven't tried the 45mm 1.8 much yet because the 25mm kind of got stuck on the camera when I mounted it ;-)
I mostly compare it to the Nikon 24-70 F2.8, the Nikon 50 1.4 and Nikon 180 F.28 (the three high grade lenses I had for the Nikon). The Pan-Leica 25 gives superb contrast, and colors aswell as great sharpness wide open already, contrast and colors are better then the Nikon glass even stopped down a bit. I decided between this and the 12/2 aswell but decided to wait with the 12/2 although it's still on my list. Guess I will hold out a bit longer and see what price Schneider will set for their 14/2 first :-)
I actually had the same little argument with my self as you seem to have, "make do with the 12-50 as a wide angle". I figured, the 12-50 is actually quite sharp at 12mm even wide open, it's slower yes but for now the 25 and 45 were more important for me.
Will start using the 45mm in the days to come and see how that compares, I guess it will be amazing as well, from what I've heard atleast (and you told me) :-)
Great images here on the last couple of pages. I've been doing most of my OM-D postings on the micro four thirds thread and it made me ask myself and now all of you. Should we consolidate/move this thread to the mft image thread or keep it separate?
Other image threads in the alt forum have been a bit broader than camera specific. The NEX images thread is for all NEX system cameras. The Leica thread includes all Leicas. The Zeiss image thread is not quite as specific either. The dilemma is posting in one place or another or both. It's just simpler to focus on one area, IMHO.
So it made me think should we focus our efforts on posting and discussion in a single thread . . . the MFT images thread?
