Understood. However, my question was in response to the earlier poster who mentioned that the firmware fix has supposedly fixed the green tint but didn't make mention of it in the update description.
Since this issue was brought to light and Nikon has flat out said that there is nothing wrong, I wouldn't be surprised if they just slipped in a fix (assuming its fixable via firmware) and makes no mention of it.

? Am I missing something here? On my calibrated monitor, it's the D3's screen on the right that looks sickly, not the D800's. (Not true for the image above, which is Kermit-the-frog green.)
something wrong with your screen if the one on the left looks 'normal' to you...sure the one on the right needs to be warmed up a bit, but the one on the left is green.
Well I've bought 3 D800's for my team. 2 show the green tint, expecting the 3rd one today.
I've logged a ticket with Nikon Europe. this is their reply..
"Regarding the previous incident, it was closed as the case has been forwarded to Nikon Japan as there was no further information we could provide in regard to the reported issue. As I have stated, the way the LCD has been calibrated on D4 and D800 cameras is intentional. Recently we have been informed however, that you can have the monitor re-calibrated in the Service Department so it will be closer to D3 series. Also, the brightness and contrast will be slightly reduced to accommodate the required change.
Should you wish to have the modification done, please send the camera directly to our Service Department. There is fixed rate of £30.80 incl. VAT for the service and the turnaround time varies between three and five days.
Please register your equipment via the URL listed below. Once you have completed the form you will receive an email advising you to print the return label, giving you free postage through your local postal service. The return address will be included on the label."
Basically... Yes there is a known issue, but we can fix it for you if you pay us....

I don't know about that. To me, it sounds like some users may prefer the LCD color to be different than what was intended by Nikon. They are willing to change it for you for a nominal fee. Doesn't seem unreasonable on the surface.
I don't have an issue with my D800 LCD color, but then again I haven't lined it up against other DSLRs and declared the other ones "correct" so any deviation in D800 color is should be considered a defect.
I sent my camera in for the green LCD issue last week. I received it yesterday fixed!!!
I have chronicled my whole process including the letter I mailed with my d800 for service. Also, I have attached the letters I received back with my correctly calibrated LCD. They do not admit guilt however. The way I read into this is that yes the monitor has a defect because they had an obvious form letter and the ability to correct it. It's already been proven that newer cameras do not have that defect. Insulting, but at least it's fixed.
