Well Karl, it is a set that raises the bar quite high. The light on the blooms in #1 really makes the shot special. The single water drop breaks up the symmetry of the silhouette and adds a little extra oomph to the central focus of attention.
The darker background in #2 really compliments the rich colors and patterns of the iris. Even the shape of the emerging bloom, and how the individual petals are wrapped around the center works in your favor. The drops of water inside the sheath provide subtle points of interest to that area of the flower.
The second iris and the allium are also top drawer. A very pleasing set Karl....Show more →
Lately Ken it takes something a bit extra to please me, lots of respect to all the images I see and a big grin to the ones that rise to the top. I've gotten pretty picky of my own work, not like I didn't nit at others work or anything
I like your interpretation of #1, I often wonder what draws me to a shot sometimes and some of the things that people see and find balance with are interesting and perhaps things that in a subliminal way drive me to the shot?
Nice to hear your thoughts and observations on the darker BG shot, thanks for expressing them Ken.
Many thanks for the time you gave these.....appreciated

1 - Beautiful image for the first slot Karl... love the pink against that wonderful green backdrop in some really nice soft light. My favorite.
2 & 3 - 3 for me because I really prefer the lighter BG.
4 - Really pretty and very well done... love the f/14 DOF, the stick out bloom on top, and yes I see the bee/wasp too. Cool.
Techs and PP are beyond reproach my friend... the textured detail you reveal in your images is amazing.

Excellent work and a pleasure to see once again.

Well I wished I had some of your opps that I have seen from you lately 'Kristy' but 'Karl' went 'KarlA' again Had birds in mind at the local haunt figuring some Warblers are in town but the making plans usually scares the weather into sillyness for me
Thanks for siding with the lighter BG bud, it would do fine without its competitor as Tim pointed out.
#4 these things make me crazy, wanting DOF but keeping the BG bokeh doesn't always harmonize, the fact that these darn things were swaying in a light breeze didn't help either. So I figure.........who used f/14 ever
'Just doing what I enjoy doing' as you would say...............thanks my friend

An absolutely gorgeous set Karl, #1 is a head turner it is prefect in every way my friend...I, like Tim Kuhn, don't shoot iris in this stage but maybe I should because these are beautiful, love the BG on these.... #4 is a very interesting flower, you did well on this one, great BG on this too. Thanks for your wonderful florals Karl, I really enjoyed them!

What's up Nellie! Nice timing that you drop in and get treated to your favorite subjects well other than fine Italian sports cars that is.
Yes that title could have told a tragic story too
As far as my PP goes, finally have a comfortable non forced routine, a little time consuming but I like the results. I still am thrilled with the 'Chad Action' for saving for web presentation, it works great for me.
All that counts is that you like whatcha see, thanks for the good words little buddy

there was a silly hover bee that flew into the frame right at the moment I snapped as I recognized the dark spot as the body and the tow other faded marks as the wings
did you see the bees butt?
Back then I had a nice little push from Terry D if you remember?
Foiled by a bugs shadow, now that's too funny. Speaks volumes of you "see" Karl.
The bees butt? Nope but now I do Funny all the looking at detail and such and I missed that Hmm you see and I don't see, like I said speaks volumes
Ah Terry, he did have an excellent eye for florals. I do miss him as well as many others

Fantastic shots. Great composition. I keep going back and forth to find a favorite but I can't.
I was looking forward to meeting you this week with Larry. May be next year.
Take care

Yes and I too looked forward to meeting you Harsha, I heard you guys got some good chicken shots There is always next year yes, that sounds like what they say about our Cleveland sports teams
Thanks for your appreciation my friend, you take good care....

Man, I love how you control the DOF on all of these images Karl! And of course, you worked hard for those beautiful BGs. My top picks would be #1 and #4. Love the slight touch of the lighting on the right-top of first floral, great play of the available light. As for #4, the sticking out floral really drawn me in, and no diminishing from the others due to great DOF.
