Prettym1k3 - Are you talking to me or Mike V? Ours is a Savage Paper backdrop with the Paul C Buff ABR800 ring flash with moon unit. Villa is using the same.
4honor - The backdrop was hit a few times, and next time we run this we will secure the stands to the ground with sandbags or duct tape.
This lighting setup is SO simple - Pretty much a no brainer for us... One power cord, one flash unit, one moon unit. Done. I'd hate to have to setup umbrellas/s'boxes, triggers, batteries, etc. which also are then at risk of being bumped into.

Mike, I was talking to you. Thanks for the info. As much as I truly need to stop buying equipment, I've been considering one of these setups for a while now as an add-on to my packages.
Interesting. I don't think Alien Bees are around in the UK, so any one know of a similar lighting setup to use with UK available lights (like Elinchrom etc) ?
I can't say I've seen a softbox that allows you to shoot through like that.....

For what it's worth, I'm using the same setup as Mike (James). ABR800+30 in moon unit+savage paper backdrop. I just use white instead of black and add one more strobe behind it.
I also think of props as disposable and don't expect them to return to the booth by the end of the event. Usually adds about $15 in expenses.
In terms of keeping my backdrop afloat, I also use sandbags if I'm in a high-traffic area, and tape a rectangle on the ground for where people should stand. It's typically 1-2 feet in front of the backdrop so people aren't backing up into it.

Most major strobe companies offer some kind of ring light or ring flash, although they're typically much more expensive than the Alien Bees setup.
Not pretty but it's been a big hit at every event so far. I manage to get everything contained to that "tower." Probably upgrading to the ring flash soon and drilling to hide the cables.
Here's my booth!!! No cables, no wires, no lights. Just the popup flash and led lite panels... All this cost under $500... I find things around house!!!!
