Good input from everyone, let's keep the conversation going.
Multiple locations is a great idea, I would suggest we limit it to 3 or 4 stops at most though. Otherwise there is going to be quite a bit of driving, and we'll want to take a lunch break (yes?).
definitely.

LOCATIONS
- A Fall Creek hike sounds interesting, I have never hiked it... always looking for new hikes. It appears very photogenic too.
- For a multi-location jaunt, I'd vote for the Santa Cruz area (as long as we have someone familiar along), just because I haven't explored it very much. Getting around can (or "may") be a little easier over there than around the city too.
haven't been to either of these in years, so they sound good to me.

- Marin Headlands is a nice area, I'm curious though, what do most of you shoot while there? The bridge & city, or landscapes of the Headlands themselves? I have hiked miles and miles of it, but have not taken a ton of photos out there.
i shoot mostly landscapes of the headlands, shots of the batteries and graffiti, and wildlife (birds, bobcats, coyotes, deer, etc). it's usually hard to resist taking a shot or two of the city as well.

For any outdoor-landscape locales, we probably want to be there either first or last, right? Mid day light and all... For street/casual stuff I really don't mind how the light is. Indoor things less important in that regard.
yup.

Car pools def a good idea, we can compensate the driver/s of course. I have a truck... bad for city driving, ok-ish for Santa Cruz, fine for Pt. Reyes, good if we need to get out into the middle of no-where
i have a car with room for three extra people (2 crammed against a carseat), but i don't know for sure what my schedule or my wife's will be that far in advance.
Fall Creek is great, I highly recommend that hike though I like it best in the... erm... fall It's one of the few places in the Bay Area I know of that gets a decent amount of fall color. There's also some artificial stuff to see, like the lime kilns. Also it's in the mountains and pretty well shaded, so for a late spring, early summer hike it should be fairly cool
Nisene Marks is a nice place but not the most photogenic spot (relatively speaking) IMO. It's sort of "blair witch" style woods Nothing wrong with it, just sort of anonymous as far as Bay Area Redwoods go.
I didn't realize when we were talking about dates that Father's Day was on the 17th.
I am still down to do something on the 16th, even if it ends up only being with 1 other person. Maybe keeping things simple and picking a single location and a good place to have coffee is the way to go?
I haven't been too vocal about the get together since my wife is due on June 30 and I have to stick close to the ranch for the remainder of June. If people meet in SF or Southern Marin I will be able to make it as long as nothing's come along early but can't go farther afield than that.
