it says that in the picture alongside recommended accessories. I didn't notice it there. It should have stated the manufacturer in the title. The listing title does not say that.

also the grip arm was hollow and it bent under the weight of the 8lb light head and softbox.

what's the difference between the grip arms? They look pretty similar.

To put it simply, build quality: solid steel, not hollow. The Matthews version ends in a fixed knuckle for simpler operation and a stronger connection (the chinese knockoff has a double knuckle).

Thanks for this. Ihave A420 and was thinking about A4039 combi boom. How do you like D600 on your A420?

I prefer the A420/D600, unless the leveling leg is needed... It works in about 75% of the locations I've wanted to shoot reciently and the casters are priceless.

The most recient mod to both the D600 and the 4039 is to use a 4" angle grinder to flat spot the 5/8" spigot. This allows the strobe to be more secure when boomed and tilted at an angle. I have a drop down pin which works great indoors, but it is a PITA to keep everything mounted and 'stroll' around a park when the stobe and pin want to bounce around.
