Thanks for the comments, folks; I had to make separate deals with them in return for cooperation - one cost me a chocolate-covered strawberry, the other a ride to a party (both of which they'd have gotten anyway, but all of us keep to our little fictions )...
It is remarkable how the three daughters (one is away at college) have steered my photographic direction over the years; once they were old enough to protest (adolescence), all of my spontaneous snaps of them were usually of an upturned arm or obscuring palm...so I've never had the kind of practice making portraits that I would like to have had. Birds, flowers, and rocks never roll eyes and complain ("No, Dad!"), so I gravitated along those lines of least resistance. So, of course it's a casual setting - that's all I know how to do! And, the unmade bed, the poems and drawings taped to the wall, the holey jeans - all scream "teenager, no longer a child"...the only thing I placed was the Chuck Taylors...
