so sometimes working at a camera store has it's perks!
an old timer came in with a minolta set up and wanted us to look it over (the camera was broken) so we ran a roll through it and came to the same conclusion.
anyway, the guy told us to keep it or just throw it out.
well, as it turns out the lens attached was a Minolta 50mm md f1.2!
anyone have any experience with the lens? i just ordered the kipon adapter for my Xpro1 so we'll see how it goes.
it's a pretty sweet lens, probably the easiest minolta to convert to canon as well.
Michael (zhangyue), I enjoy the portraits of your children a lot. Gives me some confidence that I'll be able to keep using my manual focus glass with my own kid(s) in the future.
A couple from the 50mm f/1.2 AI-s on a D700 from a recent trip to Montréal.

the FD85 1.2L is converted, that is why i can now use 8m. with adapters you loose quality or you can only go to ca. 1m.

LG, thanks for the reply.
I asked the question because I had the FD 85/1.2L too and it was converted to EOS mount.
But the position of rear "fixed" optic element was unchanged, so it hit the mirror.
Previously I and the lens repairman planned to move the optic forward, but through some advices that I read on the internet (including from past FM threads) - which said that moving the rear part could degrade the image quality (sharpness etc., especially at close distance) - we decided to keep the position of the rear element as is.
Do you spot some issues I mention above on your lens?
My travels through NV pawn shops are sometimes great and sometimes "meh". I found this CCTV lens (attached to a vidicon camera) for $8.00. After a good internal cleaning and machining a spacer, it works well. Not sure who the real "Made in Japan" manufacturer is; re-branded as Norelco TV Lens (N.V. Philips Eindhoven Division). Looks good to me...
Window frame done on NEX 5n with FD 85L @ f1.2 in front.
