i've LONG wondered about the SC-29 cable- i know what it's supposed to do- use it for off-camera flash, and have either the flash or the camera-end of the cable emit the AF illum light.

I've been wondering though, if you can use it withough a flash, say- just on my D7000 body, to provide AF-illum.
If that is the case, is there some way this cable could be modified to just be the camera-mounted box, no coiled mess hanging off it?

Hello, just curious. How�s your project for wireless sc-29 as AF illuminator? I�m also looking to cut sc-29 from Speedlight and using it for the AF illuminator only. I got used sc-29 for $7-$8 and done changing it�s cable to something used on CB radio.

So mine is a good candidate for getting rid the other end cable. I�ve read the SB-600 manual book with the diagram but can�t figure how the pin works.

hahahhahaha this is an 8 year old thread.
