geniousc: I may be the first one to try the PMG L bracket at only ninety nine ninety five
Yes, please try and report. My PMG universal (bottom, not L) plate arrived today. It seems to be quite a well made, well finished, quality product. I attached it to my RRS BH-40 head, and it fit well. Guess I'm off the continuous plate upgrade treadmill now!
That is great to hear about the PMG. I've already ordered a Kirk L-bracket for my 5D III and cancelled the one from RRS. The Kirk arrives Monday or Tuesday. I'm curious about the PMG L-bracket that they might be making for the 5D III, only because their boomerang flash bracket looks interesting to me.
I placed a call to PMG to ask, if there was a solution to use their boomerang flash bracket with an existing L-bracket from Kirk or RRS. The tech was not in, but hope he/she will get back to me. Of course it seems like the flash bracket works best and most seamlessly with their camera plates.

Same here! Luckily I had an extra one on hand from another plate. I contacted them and they are mailing one out.

Thanks Jim, how did you get a hold of their customer support? I called and sent email and nothing from them. Their CS number seems always to the voicemail.
I sent a e-mail to their sales department and had a reply within 24hrs. They sent me two in the mail and I got them today. I contacted them 5-3. they mailed it 5-4, and I got it today 5-7.

Are you saying they sold you a camera plate and forgot to put the screw to fasten it to the body in the shipment? I notice their L-brackets have bolts that fasten the portrait portion of the L-bracket to the landscape portion, although their pictures are for the 60D version.
I have a L- bracket for the 5D mark III from promediagear on order since 4-23. I call them today and they said I should get it next week sometime. I guess their running behind on getting them out.

Is the bracket convertible to a non L-bracket?
I received the Kirk plate and am 100% satisfied. The plate is notched out so the rubber portion of the camera base is not a factor, the front lip of the plate runs the entire length of the plate and it contours to the radius of the underside of the camera as well as the front of the camera (ie: there is a small arc near the "Mark III" lettering). It looks completely correct in design and most importantly holds the camera level!! Finish is a notch less velvety compared to the RRS plates (Kirk's finish always is), but it makes the RRS design look almost prehistoric.
