Oh, the AWB seems off to me a bit, so I think its Nikon and one of the reasons I hesitate when looking at Nikon. They have gotten much better though.
No, if it had been taken with a Nikon it probably would have been out of focus...
This was taken with a Panasonic GH2 and Leica DG 45mm f2.8 macro (JPEG, Auto ISO, Daylight WB, no corrections... and it's a dark cloudy day here)
Another twist to this plate dilemna. I recieved an email from RRS today concerning my original returned plate. They credited only the cost of the original plate but deducted the initial shipping charges. It is not a full refund. Maybe this is typical policy but considering the poor fit of product that I was shipped and what I have heard about Rev A, it doesn't quite sit well with me. What do you guys think? Or maybe I am overly concerned about $8 or so.
Gene, I just checked my CC statement. I didn't even get to see the plate since I refused the delivery when the first issue came about and indeed, they refunded only the price of the plate minus the shipment cost. No, it is not a full refund but they also get charged by UPS. So, I think we will have to eat the shipping cost. Oh, well....
Geoff, it looks to me like the lip or lips on the bracket for the 5D Mark III are welded on and not out of single piece as compared to that of the 5D Mark II. Does it look that way to you? It is hard to tell though after being painted. Not that it matters much since the integrity seems to be just fine but those bracket/plate manufacturers tend to advertice their product as a single piece rather than two or more pieces welded together.

Joshua, FWIW, I haven't refused very many shipments but whenever I did, I don't recall ever being charged shipping especially when the product is admittedly bad.. I am quite certain B&H doesn't do it, I know Amazon doesn't. But every company has their own policies. Be as it may I recieved my PMG universal plate, it works and looks as good as anything out there, and all for $30 all inclusive. And it will not mark the camera. Done deal. I'm glad that you found that item. BTW, I asked Tom Fudala the owner of PMG about the L bracket. He said they had to make a few changes in the prototype and asked if I could wait a couple weeks. $99 is the price, for as much as I use one, this may be it.

Joshua, I would bet that the lips are not welded, but machined in when made on NC machines. Only certain classes of aluminum will anodize properly, and the weld buildup in the heat effected zone would certainly show big time.

IMO, while its only $8, I think RRS should refund you the full amount, including shipping, due to a very poor initial design.
Unfortunate as it may be, I think I will go with Kirk for my bracket for this camera as opposed to RRS.

Did they charge you for shipping of the bad plate back to them and for the shipment of the corrected plate? If they covered that then they are completely right and fair. After all, you should be charged shipping once at least. If they charged you twice then that isn't right.
They charged me shipping for the original plate and sent me a prepaid label for the return. They did not refund shipping for the original order. I am forced to eat it, and it is only $8 but it just seems to me that the right thing to do would have been to refund the total amount since it was their bad. At least that's what I would have done. Same as ebay's current policy, total refund including shipping although I hate to use flea bay as an example.
