You know I've had no interest in this camera as my D3 and D3s are serving me well. But holy cow the croppability(is that even a word?) of 36 amazing MP may be too much to resist. I'm super impressed with the results I've seen so far. I just wish they included the voice record function of the D3 series. I use that function ALL the time!

It wasn't set at all. Just unpacked the camera on the way home and did some snapshots.
So, no, the date does not indicate an "early bird" :-)
