Loved having the D800 with me on my first visit to Zion, GCNP and Bryce, but on the hikes I could have done with something much smaller
The amount of detail I was able to pull back on the tree which was esentially black in my exposure made me realize why the Nikon/Sony system is better than Canon in the sensor department... by a big margin
The nearly full moon killed the milkyway shots, and the glow from Las Vegas even 120 miles away was quite visible.
Only time I took the 28 out was when we hiked Angels Landing to save on weight. The 28 is great, but the 16-35 was perfect for this type.. Specially since I was going to shoot apertures F8 or greater for most subjects.
