Both lenses are great with isolation and sharpness, however I find 56 to be a lot more versatile and can be used in many situations. 90 may be sharper but requires higher SS and more specialized in its application. Make your choice based on the distance that you expect to shoot from. Cant go wrong with either. I would recommend 56.

Thanks. I've been partial to the 56mm since I'd like something with a smaller working distance. Funny because with Canon I preferred the 135mm to the 85mm. But oh well. I don't want to buy a bunch of lenses for the Fuji, so I think 56mm will be a good fit.
Seattle 4th of July over Lake Union. X-T2 18-135 JPEG Velvia Heavily cropped.
Was really crowded and under a streetlight. Not ideal but have loved fireworks since childhood. Luckily a friend lives 3 minutes from this vantage point.
This guy is the winery dog at Whalebone Vineyard, in Paso Robles California. His job is to greet people and be friendly. He was great at both! X-T2 and 18-135. Bentley at Whalebone by lennycarl08, on Flickr
yep the Caribbean Sea in Cozumel is absolutely unreal in color and how clear it is. It is incredible, you can see right through to the bottom everywhere, and the fish comes right to you, and actually bumps into you. It is incredible.
There is a number of discussions relating to Fuji X system and flashes. The Godox system is now almost fully on board, but I still have a number Nikon flashes so I had opted for the RoboShoot system as I don't have to invest in any other system for now. The RoboShoot works superbly with the XT2, but the X100F works with the SB 910 but not as reliable with the SB 700. The charm of the RoboShoot is that it is so easy and works up to -5/+5 EV compensation and HSS is automatically there.
Shot this morning with XT2 56/1.2 RoboShoot SB 700 HSS on manual exposure 1/500sec.
Another couple shots this afternoon of Marisa Late in the afternoon shot with the XT2 and 56 APD, RoboShoot with the SB 910 and softbox. Manual exposure at 1/1000 sec.
Almost forgot how much I love the 56 APD
Two different flash exp compensations -2 1/2 and -3 2/3 EV
Shot #1 and 2 post processed just Lr CC with camera std/provia profile.
Shot #3 in post processed via IXT, sharpening low. Lr CC with camera pro neg std profile. This is more subtle and may be better for portraits.
