I know! I took a punt and just ordered an ebay battery with adapter for $30 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/160738477781?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I hope it doesnt blow up or leak some mysterious fluid inside my camera :P

but you might be right about delivering to australia earlier than the US for some reason, I remember this was the case with the x100 as well.
Anyway I'm a bit tired of waiting... I've already spent $500 accessorising this camera
thumbs up, a 95mb/s sandisk, strap, a domke bag, battery... it adds up

I'm really over waiting myself. It seem like all we have had for the past six months is announcement after announcement with very few of the cameras shipping - just wait, wait, wait.
I'm just about tempted to pay the damn premium and buy the X-Pro1 right now from Japan.
Nah man dont bother.
Just think of the hassle of shipping it back to japan if you have a warranty issue, which is not unlikely at all since this will be an early production camera and they have reinvented the wheel in so many areas. I've sent my x100 back to Fuji twice.
Just stop checking this thread for a while and shoot one of the other 2304721402374 cameras you own

I think you guys get it before us in the U.S. The date for the U.S. I have read is end of March around the 28th.
The obvious reason Fuji is not immediately making the adapter available is that they want to sell you their lenses. I'm betting the Fuji adapter is pretty simple but priced at $250 or so. Heck, they just released their pricing on X-Pro1 accessories and the simple plastic grip acc. is close to $100, the battery just under $70 (and unlike the x100, I'm not sure there are good, cheap, $10 alternatives).
Probably because it takes the boat longer to get to the USA...
As for the adapter, I would't be surprised if it's made by Cosina, since they already make a bunch of other adapters and also are the supplier for the eyepiece diopter.
Vignetting: looks exactly like what I see with the CV15 on the GXR, if it is indeed vignetting.
Steve Huff has posted a few photos (low rez and in B&W) from a 'daily inspiration' reader submission. A couple are with the 18mm, and it looks reasonable here, from what can be seen at web rez....
Looks like the 18 has some CA:

Some? In the second example with the telephone wire/ post in the top left corner of the frame, the CA is the worst I have ever seen. That lens just looks like a dog overall.

I barely noticed it. Worst?
Edit: Well looking at full size, It's very visible, but I've seen alot worse.

Boy, the detail in some of those shots at the periphery doesn't look great, either. After seeing this and the Samsung NX 16mm, I'm beginning to think the NEX 16 isn't as bad as we thought.
The shot of the light bulbs taken with the 35/1.4 show quite a lot of CA too, both in front of and behind the plane of focus. Look at the power cords in the background, very ugly rendering and excessive CA.
The portrait shot of the woman taken with the 35/1.4 missed focus on the face/eyes, but the lens does seem to resolve well at full aperture. (Focus is on the torso.)
The pagoda/building shot with the 60 macro seems off too, focused on the background. Either this guy does not nail the shots or the X Pro 1 isn't easy to nail focus or check focus with. At least the building shot is an easy one. Back focus?

I'll wait for the Fuji adapter. I still have the sneaking suspicion that it might have focusing cams to allow parallax correction to work in the OVF.
Never thought of that. Wouldn't that be something? A camera manufacturer's M adapter that had a M lens cam wheel to give the camera info on distance. Maybe fine tuning software to work with EVF focus assist?
It has been reported that when a non native lens is selected for use in the X-Pro 1 menu, the projected OVF framelines for the selected lens include two nestled sets - one looser than the other. This sort of suggests that one set is for closer objects and one for infinity. I guess it's strange that would be the setup if Fuji planned a more sophisticated M adapter that provided focusing distance through a cam. In fact, the body would have to already have the mechanical connection for the cam to even work. As it is, all of that info is provided electronically, not mechanically so it's highly unlikely we will see a mechanically coupled cam m adapter for the X-pro 1 which provides distance info through mechanical means.

It would be possible if the mechanical cam coupling on the adapter converted its position into an electronic signal that told the camera what the focusing distance was. I don't think this would be impossible to design and build, but doubt Fuji will do it. I could see Leica doing it for their upcoming mirrorless... of course it wouldn't be cheap.
As for the sample images in that review... I like the 18mm results at nearer distances, and when the edges are not so important, but not so impressed with planar subjects or near infinity. There seems to be a lack of, or waxing over, of fine detail, which might be a sooc Jpeg problem. But the lens does seem to purple fringe quite easily. The 35 looks very nice, and the CA we see in the out of focus areas isn't uncommon for a fast lens. I agree about the flare.

Yeah, it might be possible but is extremely improbable regarding the M adapter cam support for the X-Pro1.
I agree about the Fuji X 35 1.4. I actually like pretty much everything I have seen from it and think it will prove to be a great lens.
