Nice sharp shots, Morris. I wonder why that lens gets so many negative comments in the Reviews Section?

Thank you Tony,
The 80-400 VR requires doing everything correct and it will punch you in the IQ or focus speed any time you don’t. It is very sharp with excellent contrast wide open at 400mm. By f8 @ 400mm and all other settings it’s excellent. The internal focus elements have a very long travel from minimum focus to maximum so Nikon added a focus limiter switch. If you use the switch focus speed is fine on a body with a strong motor and sluggish on ones with slower motors. I suspect that a lot of people fail to read the manual and don’t use the focus limiter switch and this bights them big time. As with any long lens they magnify your errors and many want more out of this first ever stabilized lens in the terms of ability to hand hold than is realistic.

I agree with Peter, the stippled water reflection on the Little Blue really adds to the overall comp of these, Morris. My fave is #1, the Beamer makes the lighting look quite striking.
