p.2 #1 · I applaud to Nikon for all the "hate" in Canon forum
The root cause of all this bickering is the failure of posters to recognise that the world does not revolve around them, and that they cannot just project their own usage preferences and needs onto everyone else on the forum. It's alright to have an opinion, but it's counter productive to then complain about other peoples' opinions

. . . And what's with "I am a landscape photographer so I need 36mp+++"?? There are not many landscape photographers out there who actually print BIG prints and sell their work. Just because you shoot landscapes, doesn't mean you need a high mp camera.
Just because you do studio work, does not mean you need 36mp either. When was the last time you did a 40" portrait print of that model you shot?? I just had to say it!!! Hopefully at least SOME will agree
Unless we make our living from photography "need" is irrelevant to any camera equipment we own. We don't "need" any of it. So criticizing people for being interested in having a 36 mpx camera because they don't "need" it (in your opinion) is frankly a little arrogant and kind of silly IMHO.
I'm primarily a landscape photographer. I occasionally sell a print but mostly I photograph for my own pleasure in making, viewing, and exhibiting my photographs. I don't "need" 36mpx any more than I "need" the 21 mpx camera I now own or the 12 mpx camera I used to own or the 4x5 and 8x10 cameras I owned before those cameras. But being able to make large prints with excellent detail and tonal gradations is very important to my enjoyment of photography. The better the prints the more I enjoy making and looking at them and the greater the chances are for exhibiting them. Not many galleries and other places that show the kind of work I do are interested in 40 inch prints from point-and-shoot cameras.
So yes, I want a 36 mpx camera - not because I "need" it but because I think it will enhance my enjoyment of photography.

Some people like to go out and shoot photos, other people like to shoot a photo once in a while and spend the rest of their time peeping at pixels and posting on the internet. The people whose photography really adds something to the world are in the former category.

Kind of ironic...the whole bitching about bitching thing.
But if no one bitches about the bitching is there really any point to bitching in the first place? If there is no bitching then the Internet collapses from boredom and everyone will bitch at each other in person - which then is sure to lead to violence. It has been one of the great philosophical issues since the time of Aristotle when he wrote, "To bitch is to be."

But it's not just the resolution of the 5D.
It is also the autofocus and the fixed pattern noise i.e. banding in the shadows, that irks people.
Canon have a knack of letting out just enough camera for people to buy it, but maybe they will have to let out a bit more on their next round of releases and everyone else seems to be stepping it up a bit of late.

Internet does draw some haters and folks in mama's basement looking for an on-line fight; that is why we have the hide button.
The 'regulars' are, for the nost part, quite well behaved.

No mature and reasonably well educated person takes these Canon vs. Nikon debates too seriously. We just like to talk about that stuff.... for the sake of talking.
The fact is that most of us would be content with either system.
Also, the fact is that Nikon doesn't have anything like 400 f/5.6, 100-400 or 85L, to name a few.
