I can't believe that you would stoop to breading....what is this world coming to..
Not too bad a shot considering the way in which it was captured...haha

Great info Peter. I often wondered how you were able to get the birds to cooperate so well. I see you used my favorite Canon lens in this shot, I just love the detail and how the background turned out.
Out of curiosity how many feet away would you estimate that the bird was from the camera.
Thank you, Robert.
The 400 f/5.6 is indeed a great BIF lens in very good light.
I estimate the duck was about 60 ft distant.

I too have been know to throw bread in order to get flight shots, love the bokeh and the duck is just superb. Alluding to my last comment on your previous post, just what is a decent price on a 1Dmk11N body these days,,, curiosity has me by the short and curlies.....
Thank you Woodsie, old friend.
A very good condition 1DMkIIN with no more than 50,000 actuations should be appreciably less than $1,000.

Larry, for a moment I thought you were talking about "breeding".
Well, what am I to do in winter ? Shoot them against empty sky ?

A beaut Peter, the only species I've tried to manipulate is the Stellers and it's alot of fun but I prefer not to do that in the wild

Tom, we all draw the line somewhere. Obviously, you'd have a very hard time getting those kind of JIF shots without some sort of manipulation.
In the spring I shall try live minnow bait with terns......curious to find out if it will work.
