Ralph: Maybe. Sorry. But what else? Everything else I can controll. Worse IQ not.

What can you control? did you actually understood my sentence? I was saying that you're being obsessed with IQ and missing the other features of a body which help you get the IQ in a photo

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: Let me know.

I just told you in my post what features help get a better IQ photo, but you're a one track mind man.

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: The cener point is fast and accurate.

So do you frame all your shots with the subject in the middle? Or are you using focus & recompose?
Have you tried focus & recompose on 1.4 or 1.2 lenses?

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: No. Can you explain? Using 35mm does not mean worse IQ since I bought my first DSLR (D60 in 2002 at 6 MP).

You whine about IQ in all your posts...to me a person who is craving for IQ should just move to MF...

I can't see the comparison with D60 in the picture...but anyways...

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: Yes. Using the outer points and switching to one is contra productive to catching the right moment. I like to use a lens wide open. For that always the photographer has to decide. No camera can, no matter how accurate wich points are. The cam is not able to know where I want to have the focus. So choose it and do the picture is a thing of a 4rth second. Never ever I met somebody, who was able to chosse and select one outer FP within. Maybe you are different. Congratulations.

I don't know how to tell you this, but have you ever tried at least... to switch the AF point with the joystick/knob on the 5D to see how fast it can be done? It's much much faster to pin point the AF point on the subject using that knob rather than doing focus & recompose.

How do you catch 'your moment'? Framing the subject in the center and pressing the shutter? especially if you're using a lens wide open. I'm really curious..

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: No. If I would shoot that way, I would have all time to choose any outer point.

I can proove to you that even in good light sometimes the outer points are so crap that 90% of cases I get the better picture by doing focus & recompose rather than using the outer points. (assuming we're not talking about UW angles at 1.4 apertures and subjects sitting 2 m in front of camera

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: No. If they start running I do not have the time to switch to Al-Servo. And at 4FPS there is no need for it. I would just shoot frame by frame.

There's a thing called AI focus which switches to servo if it detects movement (or perhaps i'm stupid )

So I take it you shoot one shot focus, and you know that the second your focus locks on to them..and you press the shutter button...the subject has actually moved away from the position where it was in focus ,right?

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: Try to laugh - that is always good for you. Beeing sorry would not help me anyway. Neither you.

I do realize that either laughing at you or feeling sorry for you doesn't help you in any way since you are locked on your own ideas..

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: Yes, I saw. That is great. But with loosing IQ ... no way. I am not only shooting running brides, but in main time portraits. Did you ever tried to switch to manual focus?

Are you for real? How does the 1Ds II or 1Ds III lose IQ ? So you say a good AF system (45/51 points with more cross types) will mess up the IQ ,right?

I believe that ALL you shoot is portraits, because if you'd actually try to shoot stuff that MOVES you would see the shortcomings.. (yet again, I don't undertand your question regarding manual focus)

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: Never had any trouble with any CF card. The second slot is great to hand out a copy of your shots to a customer (would be a great help for me at the moment.

So your judgement is based on the fact that you've never had any problems with the CF cards.
You're like those people who say "I've been driving for 25 years and never had an accident" which then have a crash and die...

Also, by your judgement, the only good thing about 2nd card slot is that you can hand out the shots to your customer Ah man, you are really something...

So the fact that you can have your shots backed up in case the CF goes dead, that means nothing to you, correct?

PS: I assume you don't shoot raw,and you shoot JPEG and there's no post-processing involved, since you give the customers the jpegs from the CF straight out

adrianbwrote:
Ralph: Its a fear fantasy. I never stoped shooting in rain or snowing and never had any issues. %D II is well working in rain. I let my D60 out in the rain for 10 hours at a grill party. The lens was full of water. I just put out the akkus, dried it for 6 hours and restarted it. It worked without any problems for another 1.5 years. Then the shutter broke. After 130.000 releases (promised where 60k). I would have the same fear, using a seald body. There is still no guarantee on it.

Stupid people at Canon making them 1D series sealed like that...since you can shoot with D60 and 5D in pouring rain and nothing happens....

PS: I've seen something about a photographer here on FM (Dmitri I believe) ...2 of his 5D II did not survive... I wonder why....but what does he know,right?.....According to you,5D is built like a tank and makes owning a 1D redundant.

adrianbwrote:
Ralph: I do not need to tell you anything, adrianb. But if you like to hear/read: Yes. All that does not count to me to make my nice images. But IQ does, right.

You don't need to tell me anything, yet you felt COMPELLED to quote my every sentence just to emphasize your nonsense... Do you actually KNOW what is IQ? do you actually know what it takes for a body to take a photo with good IQ?

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: Is it important, what D3 owners think about my statement? Are my statements important to anybody except me. To you? I owned 2 Nikons (film) they where as nice as all of my other film cameras (Cosina, Minolta, Olympus, Canon). If you have a 5D MK II, why you do not use it instead of whining, how bad it is. Or sell it and buy something else?

Since they're important only for yourself, why do you keep repeating them on all the threads like some broken record? Or you enjoy reading your own sentences on the forum and seeing how people react?

adrianbwrote:
Ralph: In crappy light? there is a section on my webside showing concerts. 90% was shot manual. Nikonians asked me: How did you get those images. My answer: "Switch of AF. For that there is a switch." For you: IF AF does not work focus manual. that is one of two causes, why using a (D)SLR. Else you can do the pic with your cell phone, too.

I do not care about your website or with your infantile advices on AF/MF.
What I asked you is how do you feel about AF performance on bodies like D3 or 1Ds3,since you said 5D 'outresolves' them both'.

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: You did not understand what I as talking about? Sorry. Maybe I had a couple of beer to much. And I am an old man. My brain is not working as good as in younger times.

It's not just this time....you repeteadly keep messing model names...and I tend to believe that for you a D3x is the same with a 3DX etc...

adrianb wrote:
Ralph: The nonsense I did was to answer to your post. But that was my decission. Take your gear and shoot. Its great and (like any gear) never better then the person behind.

You're my hero for ignoring the nonsense aspect of the matter and taking the noble decision to answer so off topic to my questions..

I do take my gear, and I do shoot.....and sometimes I even post here on the forum....

But thanks for the advice..

LE: we can continue with this crap all day long..

adrianb, I thought about correcting your missunderstanding my answer. But after the third wrong interpretation, I read your complete answer first. I guess there are good a dozend of points where you changed/turned my content, interpreted what you wanted to read, blamed me personally ...

As far I understand even after 2nd reading of my answers to your questions my mistake was, that I took you serious.

You can continue whatever you want. Do not count on me to follow you.

Text changed:
Canon, what do you think about some high ISO samples (full res would be great, RAW would be much better)?

Guys, please do not quarrel on Valentine's day. Why don't you kiss and make up.
If you can't do that, perhaps you should continue your personal discourse in private.

I just changed my aggressive text in my former post. Today I came home from a shooting and my girl baked a cake in heart shape for valentine. - wonderful.
I just wanted to renew my question for some high ISO pictures in full res. Peter, there is no personal discourse. This is "kewls" Thread. And imo it is really time for Canon to show, if 1D X keeps what they promised. A sample to show it, would be nice.

But Canon samples have been poor since post 1Ds2 release.

D800 samples were more exciting no doubt though.

Sony gives us some hope and soon others will follow
