How was your experience shooting women? Mine was not so good as they often refused.
Happy shooting,
Yakim.
Just my POV. I was down in Bangaluru for about 5 1/2 months, and also up in Delhi, Jaipur, Agra. In Bangalore the women were very okay with their photo getting taken (make sure you show it to them after, they love to see it), but up north, they don't appreciate it as much, because lots of tourists try to photograph the Indian Women.
Re a TS-E:
I wouldn't recommend renting one unless you have experience using one already. There is a learning curve, especially for the tilt function. Shift isn't so bad but I think a lot of people initially over-shift until they get the hang of the lens. You really don't want to discover you've missed those once-in-a-lifetime shots.
I've had one for two years and quite frankly I've found it easier to correct images in post than in the field.
I had a decent woman portrait in Jodhpur, and younger women didn't seem to mind, but the older ones seemed shy about it. I got a couple of good ones at a slightly longer distance.
I went to India last year for a three day trip to Delhi and Agra. Brought the 1DIII with a 35L, 50L, 85L and a 70-200 2.8. Didn't use the 70-200 lens and found the 50L and 35L most useful.
You mentioned a 1.6x crop body. Depending on your shooting style, you might be able to just rent a 24-70 2.8 lens, bring your 50 prime and that's it.
Well after careful consideration, I'm going to rent the EF-S 10-22 & 17-55 to compliment my kit. Thanks everyone for your insights and locations to take pics of the Taj Palace.
Got back on Wednesday. I survived India, but not the airline food, got me sick and was out for the next 4 days, still bit weak in the stomach, but much much better.
Sorry to hear about the food . The pictures look great! It is amazing how different the Taj looks in your photo as compared to mine, just because the lighting changed. Did you have any troubles with the morning fog? Hope you Enjoyed the stay!
