Herb, that's a fine looking eagle, shot against some hostile sky to boot.
Call me crazy, but I do not mind the original pre-clean version at all. It kind of fills the void and adds some more reality to the shot. I would only get rid of the branch section which pokes into the bird's head.
You're right Herb, this un-wintry weather can be a bane to us birders/photographers as well as good for the birds in opening up more food possibilities. Excellent portrait!
