I recently saw a stunning photo of a bride against a gorgeous backdrop from todd laffler, then he showed us a pull back of the image. It was the ugly back yard of a tiny NJ house, under a porch cluttered with piles of junk. It's our job to find beauty in surroundings that don't look so great.
yeahhhh, at first glance i like the image, i'd be glad to have it in MY portfolio...but as i saw other people's answer about your other stuff being better, i checked out your site...i don't think your other stuff is BETTER, or that this is WORSE, i just think it doesn't fit with the theme of the other photos on your site...like it looks like it's not by the same photographer...just my $.02...

this exactly
Also I don't see the background as a problem. I think it's an awesome backdrop.

For the most part I like the shot and what you have done to it in post. What is making me say "no" is the setting. I looked at it immediately and wondered how you convinced the bride to go out there.
The bride wanted to shoot some pics on a nature trail across the street from the church. We were on our way back to the church when the sun was dipping into the background. I saw this opening in the brush and said "lets get one more quick shot".
i know why you want to use it, because it is nice shot in unique environment, but.. i would more like it two stops wide open or with some 24G much closer to them.
