p.2 #2 · Do any of you contact old (dead) email inquiries?

On a sidenote... I wonder how often simply following up with a thoughtful reply converts "price shoppers" into actual clients. Do any of you have a perspective on this?
It could. We post our price range on our site so we don't get many, if any price shoppers... unless someone has referred them and they are just emailing or calling us without having looked at our site.
This may be off topic but having gotten married a couple years ago I found it very frustrating when vendors didn't post any pricing information on their site. I had too much going on to send out tons of inquiries asking for pricing. I wanted to find vendors that were in my ballpark and talk with them.

I guess those that are established and have more than enough work won't need to follow up, it would be a waste of time. As I'm at the beginning, I do follow up with around what others have said - 2 weeks, a month etc. Personally, I've found the people do indeed just get busy with juggling life and planning a wedding or some other circumstance, and some of the ones that I have chased up have booked and have been great weddings. You need to know when to let it die though! No point wasting your time. If they're not interested, sometimes people are just lazy/rude and you have to accept that.

We used to (and still kind of) follow up assiduously. However, of the five weddings we've booked, I don't think a single one required a follow-up email from us after our initial response. We still send follow-up emails to folks who don't respond to what we initially send them, but we don't expect bookings from such clients.

After this thread was posted I tried doing some automated follow-ups just to see what happens. I did it to like 6 inquiries with two follow-ups at 2wks our and then 5-6wks out. Not a peep. Yeah, I don't see that being terribly useful.

I think follow-up shows a little bit more personal touch and lessens the feel of an "automated" response.
7 days for follow-up of a generic inquiry.
That being said I found someone I had forgotten to follow-up with.
It was over a month since the email. I decided to still send them a reminder that I was still willing to answer any questions they may have. They wrote back and booked. I don't think there is a secret formula, but it is nice to know whether or not someone is interested for either party.
