@mirkoc: With my 5D I sometimes see some banding if I try to lift dark underexposed areas even at 100 iso. Generally I like the files a lot and I hardly ever do low light shots, so I don't have much experience with the higher ISO values. As long as you expose properly I think you shouldn't see much banding.
Jim -- Since you're in the Alt forum asking advice, and your history is toward primes, I don't want to recommend too many AF or zoom lenses from the Canon line. But I do like quite a few.
I second your idea about the Zeiss Contax 50/1.4 -- one of my favorite lenses, eclipsed slightly by my Leica R 60/2.8 Macro -- that would be a top pick for you, knowing the work you've been inclinded toward.
I also agree with your idea to get the Samyang 14mm. I wouldn't stop there -- I'd at least get their 35/1.4, and if you feel inclined the 85/1.4 -- all totaling less than $1000. (Then maybe the new 24/1.4? )
That 135/2L is great advice -- I can see you using that a lot. I don't have it, but it gets raves from owners -- the portraits, bokeh, and subject isolation are amazing.
My personal favorite Canon lenses for the 1Ds2 start with the 24 TS-E II.
I'm more of a wide shooter than you (I think), so my 16-35 II gets a lot of use. It was sent back to Canon to tweak it's elements, and it's wonderful now. I feel this would be a long shot for you.
You have the Zeiss, so you don't need my recommendation for the 100L. I also use the old 50/2.5 Macro a lot -- more than the Leica 60 or Zeiss Contax 50, mostly for its AF, and it's no slouch in IQ.
Finally, I don't own, but the reviews are outstanding from users for the 35/1.4L (if you don't feel inclined toward the Samyang).
You have one of the best and most precise AF machines (especially center point AF is surgical), so I'm glad you aren't completely ruling out AF lenses.

Ben, the 'problem' is that high iso lifting is my usual territory. So I wonder how 1DsII behaves there.
Gunzorro,
appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. In looking at your profile you speak from experience.I think for now i will hold on to the 100MP ZE.I have sold my Rokkor so i have a little jingle to buy a lens or two.The samyang options are very nice, i have owned the Rokinon 85 f1.4 and thought that it was indeed very nice.

Much better. I stuck with the 1ds mkII as my last canon because of how free of banding the low iso shots were. I have since switched to nikon because canon did not offer me a progression forward that did not band so terribly.

Good decision, I LOVED my 135L, but it was not a 100 ZE. It is a completely different animal. I actually did not even like the 100L. Then again I hate LoCA.
My favorite lens that was ever mounted to that camera was 125mm voiglander. Amazing lens, still regret selling it.
