Thank you. I didn't know that. It's very interesting. Any idea why Nikon did not put this option in all cameras? After all, it prevents low-end model users to use some of Nikon's old (and cheap) lenses. And they would be the natural target group for such lenses.

I shoot D700 I love small bodies as well, what they did was really annoying (used D40/x, D5000) so eventually I got a Sony NEX-7 to use MF lens... EVF on the NEX are better for focusing than those lower Nikon bodies (with tiny dim viewfinder) too.

Exactly. Nikon could have sold you another camera but (because of stupid marketing managers?) they didn't.
