Yes, 8D. The name comes from utilizing the body size of a 5D with the mythical qualities of the 3D. 5 + 3 = 8. I suppose it could ultimately be called the 8DD so things add together properly but that would seem pretty silly.
I hypothesise that it's actually the 15D not the 8D

I love gear collectors and forum measurebators.
These species buy gear to take photos of a brick wall or a line chart. Then when told that the gear that got is not as good, they proceed to sell 'em to acquire the new forum product winner.

Granted the AF on my 5D2 isn't as good as my 1D3 or 7D, yet neither of the latter are full frame. For portraits and landscapes, my 5D2 is a winner. It handles low-light quite well.
To each his own but I am not selling my 5D2 anytime soon. As far as the 1DX, I am waiting and hoping the 1Ds3 price goes down; talking about beautiful portraits.

I bought my 5D2 not long after it was first released, and it still feels like a young camera. Seems a shame to sell a camera that has so much life left and such good IQ! Suspect I will sit out the 5D3, but by the time the 5D4 comes out my camera will probably be feeling a little ancient. So unless the 5D3 offers some startlingly impressive benefits I will probably pass on it, get the Mk4 eventually.
