Mark, this is a great capture of this little creature. I like the severed blades of grass that he has obviously chewed off for lunch. Very good DOF for a macro shot. Did you use ring flash?

Thanks Robert,
I used two speedlites, one stationary with a diffuser, and one handheld bare with a st-2 on camera to trigger them.

A good place for bugs, snakes , birds. Sometimes I buy a few things to shoot and sell them back to the shop, I get my shots and they make a few bucks.

Yep, you are right. I've never stopped by the pet shop for any "models" before, but it does seem there may be quite a few interesting creatures in there.
Another terrific shot, Mark. When I looked at the image, I guessed you hadn't used a ring-flash. I find that when I use mine, anything shiny reflects the circle of the ring. Beautiful dof too.

Thanks Pete,
I have seen that cicular flash reflection in macros too. The speedlights worked pretty good for me and I admit to not knowing much about macro shooting. I kept stopping down the aperture until it was finally at f29, so the DOF ended up covering the entire body at the angle it was shot. I've always admired MVERS (Matt) macros in the macro forum, so it might be fun to spend some time in there learning someday.
