Would it go any lower in next 6 months or so? (assuming 5d3 will come out soon?)
I am just measuring if I should go for it or wait more and just get a used one once Mark3 comes out
The price seems very good and it's sooo tempting haha.
I'll guess yes, 5D II will drop to $1,850 after 5D III is available next summer.
In May 2008 I bought my 5D Classic for $1,850 & then I bundled in a $100 paypal deal for a total outlay of $1,750 just less than a month before 5D II announced at $2,699. In the first 5-6 months after 5D II announced it was impossble to find in stock at vendors I do biz with. And a few of those 5-6 months the 5D Classics went back up to $2,000~ish until stocks were depleted.
With the generous swag included, this B&H 5D II $1,999 bundled kit is an incredible deal !
I've got one coming now, ordered up just a couple minutes before the Friday expedited shipping cutoff time at 8:30 AM Eastern
I was just on the phone with a Canadian rep in regards to the 5DII's sale. I was told this deal is going to last at most locations until their stock is gone. Once it's gone, it's gone. Apparently, there might not be any more 5DII being made after this.
At this precise moment there are not less than 10 topics with the word "5D II" in the title in the first page alone!
This camera must be canon's money maker.
Got the B&H 5D Mark II, Sandisk 16GB Card, & bonus HD Disc yesterday, well packed & fast !
Bonus Loweprobag got stuck in Commerce City for 36 hours, now "out for delivery" tonight.
First impressions, I should have bought 5D II online three years ago at full price.
The playback screen is so much improved over my 5D Classic as I read it would be.
AF seems to lock a bit faster than the original 5D which is a surprise to me considering all the negative AF 5D II comments I've read on forums here & elsewhere.
Its no D700 but I'm happy to find it has faster AF than my 5D Classic, not that the AF speed from original 5D bothered me, I just hoped for faster AF and 5D II delivers.
There's so much b/s that gets spewed about the mark3 and it's release, when no one aside from Canon has a damn clue.
Then there's the "should I buy it now or wait because something may come out". I mean, if it was like coming out tomorrow or something I could see holding off, but not buying because it may, at some point, in the future, but undetermined when come out....that's just weird.
More than likely stock will be low at all retailers as soon as something is announced, and it usually takes awhile after announcement to see it on the shelves. I would honestly be surprised if we see any serious SLR offering from Canon announced and released before the 1DX initial sales hit is over.
Call me when they are 1699 again lol, I'll buy one then. Why the heck not.
Edit, didn't see the software bundled with it. Assuming it's some sort of video?
Tom,
I read through quite a few reviews on this store. They have less that desirable reviews (off their site). Seems they sell a lot of grey market cameras/gear as US models. Once the people are receiving them, they are then unable to register to them or get any kind of warranty on them. They have even gone as far as to send "fake" warranty information that was unable to be validated by canon/nikon. They then charge a 10-15% restocking fee. So I have to say this site is a big red flag site and one I would avoid.
