Nikon FE2 for me. I just replaced the light seals, mirror cushion, and focusing screen, so I think I'll take mine out this weekend, which I haven't done in quite a while.
I agree that if you want autofocus, you might as well shoot digital.
But, the Contax G2 isn't an SLR...

For sheer useability, durability, system compatibility, parts/repair-ability/longevity and size, I opt for the Nikon FM2N.
For a "counter queen" I'd say the Leica R9, in black. Not that it isn't a useful, well-made machine, but...
It's not a revelation but I'm just reinforcing a popular notion that bodies merely hold film, let you meter and autofocus (on occasion) and most crucially, are part of a lens system.
I wish I could say I have experience with the EOS-1V, though.

I sure enjoy shooting my old Minolta X series cameras!
Since I use a modern EOS 1V for autofocus and modern L glass, I would have to stick with that for serious work. Autofocus isn't just for digi's guys ... modern 35mm film has beautiful color, little grain, and lets some of us actually back away from the computer for awhile.
