Finally made the long drive down to "Ted's Pond" to see if I could get a good Bald eagle fishing shot. There was very little action and it was all on the far side of the river. I think even the 800mm gang was pushing their limit and I max out at 400mm. Several photographers near me said they had never seen the action so poor and that the previous weekend had been great, just my luck. I think I'll try a little earlier in the month next year.

Still better than a good day at work The eagles are fat and happy as evidenced by their big bellies and full crops. I have 1120mm videos showing them dragging fish right out of shallow water onto the rocks across the river. Even the birds fishing, had no bogey's chasing them I think the turkey day crowd may see some action start to resume. Nice sunrise shot.
Thanks for all the replies. I did get some good shots and had a good time and the sunrise Saturday was gorgeous. I just didn't get the fishing shot I was hoping for. I met some good people and saw more long glass than I could imagine.
Herb, I agree it was better than work or even sitting on the couch watching football.

Socrate, I'm happy with what I got, it's just that when you expect great action, good action doesn't seem as good.
Mike, It's just that the posts by Herb H. Ted E. and a few others made me think it was a sure thing which nature never is. There were enough eagles in the area to make me want to try again, but I don't know if I will be able to do that this year.
I was there the same day and just like last year the day I made the trip no action for the most part. One of these trips is going to produce for me. I agree with some others...that sunrise shot was worth it and you got some nice fly overs.
Yea I know the feeling Bill. I saw all the posts from L & D 18 about three years ago. It was a great year for Eagles and there was action everywhere and it was nonstop from what I'm told. I decided to go the next year........... Uhhhhh They must have heard I was coming And it's been a steady decline every year since.... Airfare, motel, etc etc and ..... Well you get the idea
