p.2 #1 · Will we see a Canon Version of the Nikon V1 ???

From DCWatch interview with Canon executive

- Canon will release a mirrorless body in 2012
- Canon believes image quality should take precedence over miniaturization
- Canon's vision is miniaturization of the entire EOS line

It's not likely we'll see tiny sensors used in the Nikon 1-system within Canon's mirrorless solution.

Is there a "Translate into English" button that I missed?

I'm still waiting for a compact FF body with a solid AF system and 8fps that does not cost anywhere near $6800....

You may have come across a Nikon 1 V1 review that compares Nikon 1V1 camera with other similar products. Almost all such reviews unanimously conclude that this camera is far superior to all the other competitive products.

It all depends on what a person's priorities are, doesn't it!

I shot over 1200 photos at ISO3200 and above on my last trip so which is the "superior" camera for my needs - V1 or NEX-5N?

To a person who needs 1080 60p video, V1's 1080 60i just doesn't cut it.

However...

V1 does have the superior phase-detection AF so people who shoot a lot of fast-moving subjects under brightly lit environment will benefit from it.

V1's 2.7X crop factor will also be very appealing to people who shoot birds or distant subjects.

It all depends on what a person shoots! Proclaiming a camera far superior to all the other competitive products doesn't make it so!

No kidding? And that quote was from the link I provided, not from me.

It might pay a lot of people on here to think about a cheap film body and use film.......do the maths...if someone is dabbling in say street photography...then a couple of 36 exposure films will do one outing or maybe more...and will give feedback as to whether it worked or not visualiy. if no talent for it..then not much lost.

I'd love to replace my NEX with a Canon version w/ APS-C sensor. I'd park my crappy little EF non-L prime lenses on it and maybe even buy the new 24 IS for it (as the peanut gallery gasps in horror).

Don't need it. After all, you're not going to use your EF lenses on it, are you?

I hope they come out with MILC/EVIL/whatever type camera.
Considering I received a survey from Canon asking what would be important in such a camera, it has to be on the drawing board.
I'm just a rank amateur noob at this photography thing, but a small bodied cam with a decent sized(4/3 or APS-C) sized sensor with a fast pancake prime, that also accepts EF lenses would be great!

What kind of adapter do you have on that, and does it retain AF?

We'll see a canon mirrorles camera with the g1x sensor on this year I bet.

Nikon v1 is proving very popular in places!
