Perhaps an issue if you were doing to dump one brand for another, but I'd see this sort of thing as an "additional" system, rather than a complete replacement. Different for everyone though I guess.
yeah, if it's just going to be a travel camera i can see just getting the one or two oem lenses you need. mirrorless will always be my main system though, even if i add a larger format camera.

i don't care if the fuji lenses are the best ever in their focal length by all measures. some lenses have special character and i want to be able to use them. i like to have choices and the ability to take my lenses and leave a camera brand as well.

Ah, but I believe that's the sole reason for NEX
that's my main reason for the NEX (after size), i'd love somebody to make something even better though. also, i've found native lenses more difficult to use since they started removing aperture rings and adding autofocus.
I'm reading on Photorumors that the "X10" may just have an optical viewfinder. This is obviously a rumor but how would this work? Is the X100 coupled like a rangefinder? I'm thinking, if there is just an optical viewfinder the type of mount Fuji uses would be irrelevant to alternative lens usage since you wouldn't even be able to focus these lenses anyways.
I it's got removable lenses...I'd be shocked if other lenses couldn't be fit..however...there may be some clearance issues with some lenses. So I guess I am misunderstanding how they would stop anyone from using an adaptor?

I assume they would send frame line data from the lens...... But honestly I doubt that there will not be a hybrid.

It all about the registration distance between the sensor and mount. If Fuji takes the Samsung NX approach and makes it in the mid 20 millimeters or more, we may be out of luck with M lenses.

the x100 is not a rangefinder, from the images it doesn't look like this new camera is either. not having liveview sounds like a terrible idea to me without a rangefinder though.

I have mixed feelings about the way Samsung are going. They say they're trying to push it as a premium system, and are making lenses to suit that and it seems good (well the lenses do, the cameras don't seem up to it yet). But on the other hand, anyone looking for a "premium" camera like this will likely want to adapt and use other lenses just like they do with SLR's. So I'm not sure how it'll hurt them, or potentially Fuji. On one hand you could have a very small but refined system, but on the other something more versitile but less suited to the more advanced user. So I guess if Sony start making good lenses for the NEX, they'll cut right through that with the 7...
Even if the register distance is short enough to allow the use of M lenses, Fuji might ban the manual glass simply by blocking the shutter when there isn't a native lens mounted in the camera. If Fuji decides to forbid effectively the use of alternate lenses they could encrypt the protocol between lens and camera in a way that even the most clever Chinese 'chipmaker' would be unable to hack the system. Yes, I'm being pessimistic, but it's a possibility to consider.
An interesting question: How do you implement a usable OVF in a camera with interchangeable lenses?. Fitting a true superzoom inside the viewfinder which varies the FOV according to the lens mounted in the camera ?. Sounds very complicated, though doable, but this solution, apart of hindering the possible use of manual lenses, would increase absurdly the price of the product and wouldn't add anything that a good EVF couldn't do in a simpler and more effective way.

Yeah, I guess they could go the Contax G route or something. Either way, I'd rather just have a super high quality EVF in it, at this point, but it'll be great if Fuji manages both an OVF and high quality EVF.
