p.2 #2 · How good in Zuiko OM 24mm f/2.8?

BINGO!! I just got Zuiko 28mm f/2.8 (MC version) at Robert's Camera in Indianapolis for just $65. Can't wait to get some time to go out and play with it. In one of the above posts someone suggested that Zuiko 28mm f/3.5 was a great lens. I read some excellent reviews about f/2.8 version (one that I got). Does anyone here has any experience using this lens?

I have one. It looks ridiculous on my 1d3. Its also the only olympus lense that I own. All I can say is I have to do about 2-3x amount of post processing work to get it to where I want it compared to say my zeiss lenses. That could be a zuiko attribute though. Given that, the photos are still very good. At 2.8 center is decent edges, vignette. Everything seems to clear up at f/8.

+1 @ Oly's need a different recipe for PP ... but that aside they can definitely deliver. The 24/2.8 was my first ALT lens, and the 28/3.5 is my favorite "Bang for the buck" lens of all the alts that I own. I probably shoot my 28 more than my 24, but I also have the 21/3.5 and the 18/3.5, so the 24 doesn't see as much action as it once did (based on FL).

+1 @ the Oly's do vignette a bit more than some other glass, but they typically have more even sharpness across the frame and better distortion handling, where other lenses sacrifice edge/corner sharpness for more central sharpness. Stop them down and you get rewarded nicely or leave in a bit more vignette if you prefer. They can be a bit prone to flare, so be watchful of good shading.

Definitely pick up the 28/3.5 when you get the chance ... so cheap, so good.

Congrats, enjoy !!!

NOTE: Be sure and get a good adapter ... WA's are much more tempermental when it comes to proper adapter thickness than longer FL's.

Is there any significant difference between versions? Prices are similar for serial# over 200000, but those are not common... I believe these are multi-coated also.... If the coating issue can be fixed (somewhat) with post-processing, then it's not really a problem I guess... Sharpness is the same for all versions?

Thanks in advance
