First shots with the 70-200 VRII (my first ever zoom) from a few weeks ago.
I resisted this purchase for about a year due to the weight and cost until I finally cracked since I was not taking shots because I didn't have it. Like the best pro gear it just delivers great results consistently with no drama from motorsport in the rain to dimly lit UK church weddings.
WOW amazing shots in this thread. A bit intimidating to post after you folks. Due to the bulk, I don't use these fine lenses ( 24-70, 70-200) often enough. Whenever I use them, I love the results.
I guess you took it at 24mm and cropped somewhat? How close were you and how fast can those things move?
19mm. Top and bottom were cropped for the 1:2 aspect ratio, but it's full frame width. The tornado was about a mile and a half away and right after this image, I had a huge gust of wind behind the tornado about 60-70mph! This was the most photogenic tornado I've photographed... and was very fortunate to have the 14-24mm and D3 with me to capture the moment.
