The pictures where taken with the lens that is not in the picture (in case that is not obvious).
The focus (live view * 10) was on the Tabasco bottle. Used tripod with self-timer on a EOS Kiss X4 (550D). AWB with warm compact fluoro light. Although picasaweb adds some jpeg compression you can zoom in to full size get a pretty good idea of the (fairly slight IMHO) differences.
I have to say the FL actually handles a bit nicer is more compact and the Auto/Manual switch is particularly useful. The FD has half aperture stops (not shown in this comparison) and is bulkier.
From the limited use I have with these two I have the impression that the FD is better controlled for flare and has cripier colors in daylight, but the test doesn't show that and I might simply be biased because I know it is multicoated.
OpticalFlow, thanks for sharing.
I just checked your test shots. They are very closed indeed.
Interesting that in wide open shots, the FD bokeh looks a bit smoother (blue book text), but I think it can be ignored, no big deal .
The FD color looks a bit better and it should be due to better coating.
I use the FL more often due it's lighter weight. I wish I had the FD color on my FL but for now I could just add saturation and contrast via PP.
Good question Lightshow! The adapter you mention is the one I have.
The photos posted are the only ones that I've taken so far and I'm away for the weekend, from tomorrow. I believe Ed Mika claims infinity focus is possible, so I'm expecting that.

I love Sebboh's FL 55 f1.2 cloud/landscapes right at the start of the thread - convinced me it was worth chasing one of those lenses.
thanks!
regarding infinity focus: if you can't get it straight away with the adapter you should be able to get it by adjusting the infinity stop. this is definitely a lens worth being able to focus to infinity with!
These are my sisters Dogs taken with the SD14 and Canon FL 55mm f1.2. These are pin sharp at 100% but the process of downsizing, uploading and pasting here makes them look a liitle soft so I've included a couple of 100% crops to give you an idea how sharp the FL actually is.
A few more tests of my FL55 f1.2 on 1D Mk III. ISO 50, AWB. No post-processing except for exp. comp. of +0.5. No highlight reduction, simply as recorded.
