The new Plustek will be around 2-3K according to the hints from the manufacturer.

No

Plustek are very ambitious about this scanner. They believe it will be better than the Nikon L9000. I read somewhere it will have the ridiculous resolution of 11000 dpi.

for a 120 + 35mm true film scanner that rivals Nikon/Canon products but is currently made/supported and has a warranty...

I dont know it seems like a ridiculously good deal to me.

I found interesting info on Portra 400 here and on slide films here and Provia 400x here. It's in German though, but google translator should be good enough for the translation.

Minolta had a multi-format scanner that can still be found, but it is only Win XP (and earlier, as well as earlier Apple Mac).

Scanners of that age may not be supported in a more recent operating system, but not supported is not necessarily the same as saying it does not work.

I use a Minolta 5400. It pre-dates and is not supported by recent operating systems. It works fine in Snow Leopard (even the original software designed for Mac OS9).

In any case, you can download Vuescan (or Silverfast?) which includes drivers that support the scanner.
