p.2 #1 · 12 New PLMs from PCB

I fine the 86" silver quite worthwhile when I want a crisper light covering a large, but defined area. It's almost like having a huge gridded beauty light. What's rather interesting, too, is that the depth of light (inverse of falloff) is quite deep. Depends on what you want.

As far as the speedring mounts...I used red Loctite on the nuts, so I don't have problems with them loosening. I have not had trouble with the shaft bending using the speedring.

Obviously, a master at using his detractors, too.

Buff is number 1 for a reason.

Buff is number 1 for a reason.

While there's little doubt that Paul sells a good number of lights, there is no publication or organization that tracks sales numbers for light manufacturers. I spoke with someone at Profoto and he had no idea what their market share is. It's a fair guess that Profoto is number one in rentals worldwide, but there's no stats available to compare yearly sales amongst brands.

Paul offers lights with a wide array of features for a fair price. I'm sure there are a lot of photographers happy with his products.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't literal.

Which PLM are you using - the Soft silver or the Extreme silver? I'm thinking of picking on up for group shots and it seems like the Extreme Silver might have too narrow a shaft of light and too much punch for portrait aesthetics. I can see using the Extreme Silver for full-body fashion portraits.
