Thanks LightShow, I wish the link on pg 1 could be changed to that.
I'll ask Fred if he can insert a new, second post for addendum, just before the first reply by @philber . This could be used to update expired links, and maybe provide a Table of Contents, with links to within the thread. I don't think it's realistic to expect Fred to maintain the TOC/Updates post (if it can be inserted), but there must be a way to allow edit-access to one or, preferably, a few members. I'd be happy to contribute some time to this. I'll send a PM to Fred about this, and report back if he has a chance to address it.
M39 is by far the most confusing mounts it has been used for everything, so you need to research this mount if you intend to buy a lens that has it to confirm its of the flavour you want.
M39 Enlarger lenses, they have no spicific register, the back focus is approximately its focal length.
M39 [45.2mm] aka Z39(Zenit) (Silver Helios 44, Industar 50 thin version) very close to M42 register(M42 = 45.46mm).
M39 [28.8mm] aka L39, aka LTM, aka L mount, aka LSM, (Leica, Canon, Voigtlander, etc... Industar 50 tall version) (M39x1 / 26tpi, depends on the origin).
M39 BelOMO Chaika-II (Industar 69)(Half frame) it has a unique register slightly less than LTM, and requires modification to reach infinity on LTM adapters. Search Industar 69 infinity mod if you buy one. http://vintagecameralab.com/belomo-chaika-ii-anniversary/
M39 Paxette

Basically all modern macro lenses drop focal length when they go to 1:1. Here are some examples:
Canon 100 f/2.8L - drops to 75mm
Nikon 105 f/2.8 G VR - drops to 78.5mm (25% drop)
Sony 90 f/2.8 G - drops to 70mm (22% drop)
Leica R 100 f/2.8 APO - drops to 75mm with elpro 1:1 adapter (no drop at 1:2)
Voigtlander 125 f/2.5 APO - drops to 95mm (24% drop)
Voigtlander 110 f/2.5 APO - drops to 87.5 (20% drop)
Zeiss Milvus (or ZE/ZF) - drops to only 97mm at 1:2 (when lenses only go to 1:2 we tend to not see them drop in focal length)
Even the Medium format 120mm macro do it a little:
Fuji G 120 f/4 - drops to 112.5mm (6% drop)
Hasselblad X 120 f/3.5 - drops to 107.5mm (10% drop)
Pentax 645 FA 120 f/4 - drops to 97.5mm (19% drop)
Mamiya/Phase One 120 f/4 - drops to 100mm (17% drop)
Contax 645 120 f/4 APO - drops to 106mm (11% drop)
Leica S 120 f/2.5 APO - doesn't drop but only goes to 1:2 (again the exception that seems to prove the rule it seems it is primarily the lenses that go to 1:1 that the focal length drops) ...Show more →

Came across a nice graphic that illustrates angle of view. I just noticed that the AOV looks off for 35mm-28mm vs 50mm-40mm, and 40mm-35mm, each being 10deg different, 28mm seems way too close to 35mm.
My field experience also shows that 28mm is visibly way much wider than 35mm for sure!

Just tried the link on #1 post on the first page, comprehensive list of mount register distances here and it no longer works. Can it be reset, as it is so useful.
If that one on cornell.edu is no longer available, here's one on camera-wiki http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Lens_mounts
Here's the updated link: http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~westin/misc/mounts-by-register.html Hmmm, they look identical, mine works and yours doesn't yet I don't see any difference. Clicking your link seems to take me there, but opening it in a new tab brings up an FM notice "The link you have opened does not appear to have originated from this site!"
So this seems to be a FM site issue.
And the author of that list provided a link to his own site: http://stephen-westin.com/misc/mounts-by-register.html
They are slightly different, I haven't looked to see what's different yet. (Samsung NX-M is in one but not the other, Exakta is another).
I am thinking of buying a Leica SL2.
I own Zeiss Batis and Voigtlander lenses for Sony A74. Is it possible to adapt the E-mount system to Leica SL?
Thanks for a response.
As others have posted, no. You can however, adapt Voitgtlander M-mount lenses to the SL2 and there is a rather large selection of L-Mount lenses both AF and MF.

I think that's an error in the diagram:
35mm = 65*
28mm = 75*
24mm = 83*
Obviously, if you look at the degree values, the field of view for 75* should be about midway between 65* and 83*, but the diagram doesn't show that. If the table is right then the diagram is wrong, and 28mm needs to be drawn wider.
