Rick - I am sure while you are campaigning you'll have a lot of interesting opportunities to capture scenes from all over the country. Looking forward to seeing them!
Yes there is a little too much attention associated with my name these days. I will probably have to go back to using my full name; Frederick. I may wait til I see who wins the electionl
Here's one from me, I'm trying to use this camera how I would shoot my rangefinder and that has helped me with getting images more in line with what I'm expecting. I have also switched back to shooting JPEGs using the Astia mode and the Dynamic Range enhancement. It gives me some fantastic looking files that need very little (if any) post production (unless I'm doing a B&W conversion)

Nice colors - I promised the wife we'd go down there before the summer's over.
Is this a composite or just an aggressive X100 JPG mode?
Thanks! I was using the Astia profile and all I did was use a small amount of "Fill Light" in Lightroom, and a Gradient filter to darken the sky by 1 stop. That's it. Color was otherwise left alone and this was 1 JPEG image.

Cool - I thought that dreamy look resembled Astia 100! I was reading about how Fuji gets such unique results out of their JPGs (and RAWs) - IIRC they do a curves adjustment in-camera for the dynamic range setting, then HSL and NR for the film settings. I guess they could be pretty easily duplicated in PS, but if you're happy with the JPGs, why bother?
Yeah I've been SO impressed with the JPEGs right out of the camera. I've never felt that way about any digital camera. I am using the Astia profile but I made a couple tweaks which have made some good improvements.
I have changed the Sharpness up one level to "Medium Hard" and the Shadow Tone down one level to "Medium Soft" doing this has given very crisp files and helps prevent the Astia profile from crushing the blacks in the shadow areas. I am also using the Dynamic Range Enhancement and It is quite useful (on JPEGs only though). I'm pretty happy with the settings now, I just need to figure out how to work around the AF issues close-up. It's becoming a bit frustrating. At any other distance it's totally fine....
Yep. Just got mine yesterday and figured out really quickly that when you have trouble focusing with the OVF, switch to Macro which automatically enables the EVF and take it that way. No issues today with AF when keeping that in mind. For some reason I cannot upload the photos as it says I exceed the 600kb total. They are JPGs that are 1024x1024 which I have always uploaded in the past. Have the rules changed? When I try to upload them 640x640 they come out damn near like thumbnails! I admit I am no rocket scientist but never had this issue before and have always exported them from Aperture 3. Any idea? BTW, I love this camera!
