Agreements signed and executed electronically have the same legal status as paper documents. Some sources of information on this subject include: 2000 U.S. Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN), the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA), and the European Directive (EC/1999/93).
While the signature may not be identical to one’s signature created with a pen, they are just as legally binding.

I just made a big "X" on my Target's charge pad yesterday. How could that be admissible, really? AKAIK, most of these stores don't even show the signature on the register when you sign.

No matter how hard I try - I cannot legibly sign my name on those screens... You don't actually see where the stylist hits the surface, you can't rest your hand but have to hover your arm over the screen - if you touch the button with your arm or hand you may have to re-wipe the card and start over... embarrassing.

Went in and bought my iPad yesterday. I signed for the purchase on an iPod touch. Signature looked good to me so I immediately went home and looked to see if there were any model release apps and ended up finding this one. Seems to work quite well for me.
I like it better on the iPad, the text is easier for the model to read and because the space to sign is much larger, it feels more natural to sign and ends up giving much better results. The only issue I have is the iPad has no camera so you can't easily include the reference image.
