You can save over $75 if you buy the non vr model, and it comes with less glass and more ED elements, but don't expect to track flying birds with it

A D40X with this lens is a third of the weight (and price) of my S3 with the 80-200 AF-S. It's not a replacement of course, but I think I know which combo would get the most day-to-day use.
