p.1 #1 · Capture One with Sony A1 question

Within the last few months (I think), I noticed a change with my raw photos of the Sony A1 when processing using CaptureOne. The change is the colors and saturation. I used to have to do more color processing and now very little as they are more saturated than previous. I didn’t change any of my settings in the A1. Raw, no picture profile. But, I know I’ve upgraded Capture One a few times but don’t remember any of the upgrade notes indicating a change with Sony.
Anyone else notice that uses both if these two items?

Are you using the generic or ProStandard profile in C1? (This is a C1 profile, not a camera profile.) The ProStandard profiles are always an improvement, especially for skin tones. I believe C1 chooses the generic profile automatically but you can set it to use ProStandard for all photos going forward, which is what I did. I wonder if you happened to do the same at some point and that's what's accounting for the differences you're experiencing?

For the A1, the ProStandard camera profile is default, and generic is optional. For most other (older) cameras, generic is default and ProStandard optional. For the A1, the amount of saturation is identical with either profile, older cameras have generic profiles that may be slightly less saturated. It is good to keep in mind that the level of saturation in CO1 is tuned to a rather high exposure level that is suited for printing. When using CO1 for editing images that are meant for screen, then it is usually wise to turn down saturation a bit, especially the blue channel is very strong.

Yes, always been using pro standard profile. Still curios to know what’s changed with my images…..still believe it has to do with something in Capture One as that’s the only change I can think of. I guess it possible an update to my A1, but I did that awhile ago I believe.
