p.1 #1 · Sony ARW + Google Drive = no previews = need help
Trying to use Google Drive File Stream to store the original raw files and use Pics.io as a front end DAM. Works great for any file that Google can preview in the Drive. Arw is not one of them, apparently. Other images, videos and various other files are fine.
Any experience with this issue? Workarounds? Convert to .dng?

This file incompatibility for previews was one of the reasons we have left Google Drive for Dropbox. Also they did not offer any storage options between 2 and 10TB at the time we needed it. I just did a quick test and yes it works well there with ARW files on Dropbox, no issues with preview.
Sorry have no solution for you other than switch to other data storage provider.

Thank you. We have Dropbox, but were mostly interested in Google due to the integration with Pics.io. Not having the previews is a killer and major pita considering we dumped a few TB of arw files, but I guess we will have to convert to .dng until a9 files are supported.

Hi Glowrider,
I'm from Pics.io team. Actually we're considering support of ARW formats from our product side. It would be great if you could contact me at [email protected]. I need to validate some requirements to better understand the workflow.
