p.1 #1 · Client Galleries in 2017 - Shootproof, Pixieset, CloudSpot, etc.

I was with CloudSpot for a number of years, then switched to Shootproof. I've been with them for over a year and I'm up for renewal soon.

Within that year, I haven't seen any new features and I feel like they've kind of stagnated. The pricing is also really high for what I use it for (image delivery only).

What are you using? Are you happy with it? Considering something else?

I spent about 2-3 years looking through options. I was with Zenfolio for like 8 years and it was growing stale.

We ended up going with Pixieset. Had almost everything we wanted, but more importantly, it didn't have a ton of crap we didn't want. That was the thing with Zenfolio. They were doing all this stuff that didn't matter when we just wanted something that was easy and clean.

We've been very happy with Pixieset since switching about 8 months ago. It's wonderfully simple and pretty and does exactly what we need it to do, specifically with downloads and print sales.

In case anyone decides to try Pixieset, this is our referall code. You'll get some extra storage for free and so will we: https://pixieset.com/ref/B3PG8qMyjb

Damn you, Tony — beat me to it (they just announced a referral system this week)

We have 2 Pixieset accounts and for us the two main things that are missing ...

1. Ability to include documents for client access (print release PDF).
2. Ability to have early bird discounts (and last month discounts). Oddly, my self-served proof software of 8 years ago could do both. We lost something in the cloud.

I just switched from Instaproofs who I had been with the past 8 or 9 years and was really happy with, lots of improvements through the years great tech support. Instaproofs made the choice to go to a paid monthly plan vs commission on sales. At this point I moved to Sprout as now I have a client management software/gallery host with no commissions/album proofing all in one tidy little box.

I will confess as far as image proofing/sales galleries go at this moment Spout is way behind Instaproofs and others. They are making some changes, unfortunately lots of them are cosmetic which is OK, but I would much rather be able to offer a print package, be able to charge the proper tax, or have an auto email go out a few days before the gallery expires to my customers rather and a new style log in page. Sprout does have great Tech support as well. Lord knows I have put them to the test, but I am on the fence how long I am going to give them before moving to something different. I have literally seen print sales go down since moving to them when I actually thought the buying experience for the end user would be easier through them as it seems simple enough to me. Could be just flaky customers that haven't purchased yet. Client management is nice but their galleries have a ways to go to catch up to other options that exist.

We've been with Pixieset for years but are switching to Shootproof soon. While Pixieset has the best look out of any other gallery host, the product purchasing UI is absolutely terrible. Shootproof isn't much better neither, but they have online contracts and automated emails so it'll be better than our current setup. The design isn't quite as nice as Pixieset, but it's good enough.

Resurrecting this thread to get some updated thoughts for client wedding galleries. We’re choosing to move away from Zenfolio, and are considering Pixieset and PASS. They seem similar, though I really like how PASS organizes the gallery into parts of the day, which seems to be achieved via tagging in their Lightroom plug-in (see video below). Does anyone have strong thoughts here before we go through the big effort to make the switch?

My take- all of the different gallery companies are very similar in terms of appearance and functionality. However after using Pixieset for 3 or 4 years, I found that they weren't really doing anything in terms of updates that really mattered to me. Started looking into other companies and found that Instaproofs is way better than the others in terms of helping me sell prints and albums, particularly the ability to send marketing emails and reminders to clients. Print sales since I switched a few months back have been through the roof and I don't think it's a coincidence.

Pixieset doesn't have an easy way to do EarlyBird discounts which has proven to be a prime motivator in print sales.

Oh, I'm repeating myself. Looks like I said that in this thread 14 months ago.

Big fan of Pixieset over here. It's simplicity is it's biggest seller to me. Zenfolio was too slow to download things, it was clunky and it's interface was reminiscent of something from 2009. And like the aforementioned posts, it had so many things to weed through that I never ever used that it made moving to Pixieset a no brainer.

I switched to pic-time this year. Biggest reason? Unlimited backup -- it's priced less than pixieset's 1TB plan.

The management UI is a little bit less fluid than pixieset, but certainly bearable. Client side I think it's basically the same. I also like that it has the option to include "sneak peek" galleries that aren't protected from access so prospective clients can browse highlights from past weddings. If you're curious to see what it looks like you can check out my gallery site here:
